Cooke Scotland is proud to have supported the Stronsay Community Association with funding to build a new hall extension to the Stronsay Hall in Orkney.
The hall is a big part of the community and island life in Stronsay where important events are held such as weddings, dances, meetings, concerts, pantomimes, clubs and many more social activities.
The community in Stronsay identified key aspects of the hall that they wished to see improved and the project was approved by the local council in 2019 before completion in 2021.
Gaynor Smith, member of the Stronsay Community Association, said: “The funding from Cooke Scotland has supported the Stronsay community by allowing the Stronsay Community Association to improve facilities at our local hall which is run by a committee of volunteers. The hall now has extra space to store tables, chairs and staging safely.
“We are proud of our local connection to Cooke Scotland as the company has provided jobs for families who live on the island and improved our local economy with families supporting the local shops and using the ferries and plane. The local folk and families also enjoy many a night at the hall when entertainment is provided and events are held. Thank you.”
